Today felt like a sunny fall day. The forecast promises we will see warmer temperatures by the end of the week. The breeze hasn’t stopped our campers from enjoying all the wonderful activities camp has to offer. Our campers are having so much fun in their individual chugim. In cooking, campers are learning how to make some delicious holiday treats. Yesterday they made latkes and today they made hamentashen. Our synchronized swimming chug is really fabulous and our lacrosse chug is rocking.
The food at CPLV is delicious. It may be spending the day outside running around or the camaraderie of sitting around the table with your friends but our campers are healthy eaters. This morning we had bagels and coffee cake and of course fresh fruit, hot and cold cereal, yogurt and cottage cheese. Lunch at Poyntelle was Macaroni and Cheese and Lewis Village had grilled cheese with tomato soup. Dinner tonight is Roast Turkey. We always have vegetables at every meal and the salad bar is available for lunch and dinner.
Campers are signing up for this summer’s theatrical performance of Once Upon a Mattress and for sports teams. Tomorrow begins our inter camp sports games. Stay tuned for sports updates. At CPLV we stress the importance of having fun, good sportsmanship and teamwork. So, our campers are winners whether they win or lose the actual game.
Tonight’s evening program will be family feud for Poyntelle campers and a dance party for the Lewis Village campers.
Our LIT program is off to a great start. LIT’s have spent the last two days in training and tomorrow will be their first day working at Poyntelle. Over the last few days they have role played different scenarios that they might face, learned how to balance friendship and authority, spoken about what makes a good leader and learned how how write a program. The LIT’s will be leading friday night shabbat and have prepared prayers that they will share with the other campers. The training culminated with the LIT’s climbing the brand new team wall. They were the second ones to climb the wall the first being the supervisors during staff orientation week.
Have you heard about our brand new Grandparent’s Day that we are hosting this summer??
