Good morning! Our power came back on yesterday evening around 5:00 and the cheers could be heard all around camp! It’s hard to really express how amazing the last few days were even without power. Our counselors and supervisors really rose to the occasion and their energy level never waned. During meals the campers and staff were dancing but instead of pumping music through the sound system everyone was singing. The positivity they modeled throughout the 37 hours made the campers feel safe and secure. Campers were showering in the rain, bathing in the lake and doing everything they love doing at camp on a daily basis. Sarah, our executive director, wants you all to know that she was extremely impressed with the way everyone pulled together, counselors and supervisors, to make memories that our campers will look back on fondly for years to come. This is the reason our staff comes back year after year – to make sure that our campers have the same great experiences they did growing up at CPLV.
While our spirits are bright the skies are dark. We’ve been getting quite a bit of rain and after an early dinner last night campers at Poyntelle watched a movie in the dining hall and went back to the bunk for warm showers. Everyone went to bed feeling nice and clean! Lewis Village campers had a trivia night with interactive trivia stations before their bedtime showers.
We are following a rainy day schedule today and we are rescheduling all of the phone calls that were missed due to the power outage. We want to make sure that our Lewis Village campers get to make their phone calls today before leaving bright and early tomorrow morning for their big trip to Boston. We have lots of exciting plans for them over the next 4 days and they are very excited! Our poyntelle campers are looking forward to having both motor boats during the week and they will also have camp within a camp with special activities while the Lewis Village campers are in Boston.
We have some exciting sports updates for you… Our 7th grade girls softball team is in the championships! They won their game against Camp Nesher 16-5! We are so proud and we wish them luck in their finals! Our 10th/11th grade boys are going to the finals also! Our soccer team won their game against Seneca Lake 4-0! The boys will play their championship game after they return from Boston and we wish them luck!
