You should go to CPLV because you feel a closeness with the people around you and you have the best time in your life. You get an amazing experience that no other camp can give you! Poyntelle gives you a second family. Joey, Camper Age 11
At Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village, we put great emphasis on providing innovative, exciting programming across a broad range of activities. We bring in highly-trained specialists including collegiate athletes and professional artists, and our campers return home having explored new possibilities and honing new skills in their favorite sport or activity. We accomplish our mission of providing innovative programming with our concept of Instruction versus Play. This concept differentiate the goals that we will accomplish during our different program periods.
Instruction: Morning activities are devoted to introducing new skills and honing more advance skills in a camper’s area of interest.
- Bunk Rotation: Bunks travel as a group to a new activity everyday. Focus is on introducing campers to a new activity and building bunk communities and friendships. Two periods of Bunk Rotation a day for Poyntelle campers, 1 period a day for Lewis Village campers.
- Chuggim: Each week campers sign up for a 5-day elective activity. Campers have the opportunity to begin learning a new sport or hobby, or finely develop skills in a current area of interest. Past examples include Pitching Clinic, Iron Man Training, Screen-printing, Newspaper, Murals and much, much more! One period of Chuggim for Poyntelle campers, two periods a day for Lewis Village campers.
Play: Afternoon activities include Individual Select and Open Waterfront. These periods are designed to be free-form, providing a bunch of options of activities each day for campers to choose from. Counselors provide new and creative programs each day, including; Sidewalk Chalking, Nature Hikes, Art’s and Crafts, Canoe Trips, various sports scrimmages and much, much more!
