History and Stories

Since Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village first opened its doors in 1948 it has been a Jewish home for children from across America and abroad. CPLV offers an incredible facility with responsible and enthusiastic staff and a wide variety of program options. The history of CPLV is rich with memories and stories that are held sacred by our incredible alumni, veteran staff and campers. Past color war shields and banners that proudly hang in our rec hall and dining hall share the stories and triumphs of summers past. CPLV is rich in culture and values and the community fosters friendships that last a lifetime.

See what some of our campers, staff and parents have to say about Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village:

This is a unique camp. It’s a small, intimate place where life-long friends begin. Thank you for a great summer. See you next year! Beth, Parent

I like camp because the counselors are really nice to the children.  There are fun activities to do at camp like a motor boat you go on with tubes.  One more thing I like about camp is the canteen. Melanie, Camper Age 9

For the past 5 years I have grown to become the person I am today because of my experiences as a staff member.  It is not just our job to change the campers, because the campers have changed me.  The smiles on their faces, and the excitement they feel about camp is priceless.  You can’t find a feeling like the ‘camp’ feeling anywhere else, and that is what keeps me coming back! Jess, Staff

It’s a great feeling to know that my kids are having the best time of their lives at CPLV.  They walk around chanting their Maccabiah songs all year long and it brings back such great memories of mine. Brenda, Parent and Alumni

We love the camp, the staff, and the grounds.  You all have shown your ability to handle any situation with total professionalism.  We love you all and trust you totally with the care and well being of our 4 girls! Wendy, Parent

I had heard all about the “CPLV family” before coming to camp, and from my first summer I really felt a part of it. As an international staff member I think there is no better place to try something new. Like real family it’s hard to leave behind and near impossible to forget. Ash, Staff

You should go to CPLV because you feel a closeness with the people around you and you have the best time in your life. You get an amazing experience that no other camp can give you! Poyntelle gives you a second family. Joey, Camper Age 11

We chose Poyntelle for our children so they could have a fun camp experience and celebrate their Jewish heritage. As each year goes by (this is going to be #6), they spend all winter missing their summer families. They have made great friends to last a lifetime! Stacey, Parent

My son has been going to Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village every summer for the past 6 years and will continue to do so. He has grown up there and there is no other place that he or I would have chosen for him. The counselors are wonderful as is the entire program. In fact, many counselors take the time from their busy college lives to call my son each year on his birthday. I highly recommend Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village! Alyssa, Parent
