Meet Our Directors

Sarah Raful Whinston – Executive Director
Sarah is thrilled to be the Executive Director of Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village. She fell in love with Jewish camping at the age of 11 and has spent much of her life learning about informal Jewish education, including spending time at three different camps. Most recently, she was the Associate Director of Wilshire Boulevard Temple Camps in Malibu, CA. She is an Alumna of the dual Masters program from USC with a Masters in Public Administration and from Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion with a Masters in Jewish Communal Service.  Sarah is originally from Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. Sarah and her husband, Rabbi Josh Whinston, as well as their two daughters Mollie and Eva Whinston are excited to call CPLV their home for the last 3 years.

Mallory Saks Zipkin – Assistant Director
Mallory has been working passionately in Jewish Camping for over 10 years.  After a high school internship with the Camp Director at her local JCC she knew that she found her career path.  On the road to fulfilling her dream she attended Indiana University with a semester abroad at Tel Aviv University. Following graduation from IU, Mallory worked with great enthusiasm at the JCC of Central NJ as the Youth and Teen Services Director and Associate Camp Director of Programming and Staff Development for 3 years.  Mallory is a JCCA Merrin Teen Professional Fellow Alumni and a Current Foundation For Jewish Camp Yitro Fellow.  Mallory currently resides in Hoboken, New Jersey with her new husband, Mitch. Although less than 5 feet tall, Mallory is long on personality, enthusiasm and creativity! She is so excited to be part of the dynamic CPLV leadership team!

Fred and Joan Mead – Caretakers 

Fred and Joan Mead have called CPLV their home since 2004. Fred grew up working with his father at various summer camps in Wayne County, PA where CPLV in located. He brings a deep understanding and expertise to CPLV that is essential to running a premiere camp facility. Both Fred and Joan are passionate about CPLV and work very hard to make camp great. They have two sons, Justin and Jordan, as well as their grandchildren Ethan and Emma.
